Not the brightest bulb in the box Sep 24, 2009 I wish I had a 30 watt incandescent bulb to compare this to, but I banished all of those from the house a couple years ago. This seems to me to be similar to maybe a 25 watt incandescent bulb, but the nice thing is that it uses less electricity than most nightlights. It's bright enough for mood lighting and the nice thing about it is that the bulb stays cool when lit. Because it has little LED bulbs all around and on top, the light surrounds the bulb which is better than most LED's on the market that direct light in only one direction. The color is fairly warm, not that stark bluish white light that some LED's have.
Although LED bulbs are starting to get more popular, they're still very expensive for the amount of light you get. Hopefully it will last as long as it claims. I've found that with some other brands they may not go completely out, but they get very dim after a year or more of heavy use. I still use them because I like the energy savings. Most of the lights in our home are compact fluorscents but we're slowly adding LED's where we can. I ended up putting this bulb in a ceiling fan light fixture with 3 other LED's and the light is acceptable. It would work well in any mood type lighting situation. I have one of those little "up light" lamps that this would be perfect in as well.
