Usually ships in 1-2 business days | | | | | | Turn your master bedroom light switch into a whole-house lighting controller. The KeypadLinc features four easy-to-program backlit buttons that can be linked to other INSTEON-compatible devices throughout your home. You can even program all your lights to a single button so as you go to bed or leave the house, a single button press turns everything off. You'll still have control over the local light with the KeypadLinc's built-in 600W dimmer. This is controlled by the large top and bottom buttons. Know at a glance if you've left a light on and turn it off - all at the press of a button. With INSTEON, the possibilities are endless! The KeypadLinc installs like a traditional wall switch with the exception of requiring connection to neutral. Most homes have a neutral wire available. It is typically two or more white wires that are capped off in the back of the switch box. Once installed setup is quick and easy using a simple Plug-n-Tap programming. With high-end quality, at-a-glance status and remote controllability, you'll see how easy it is to create your own smart home. INSTEON is a low-cost home control technology that uses both the existing electrical wires in the home and radio-frequency to communicate. From lighting, appliance and thermostat control to integrated security systems, INSTEON allows you to manage your home the way you want - from a handheld remote, wall keypad, computer or web-enabled device like a smart phone. Easy to install and set up, INSTEON offers the flexibility and dependability to make life more convenient, safe and energy efficient. Note: The KeypadLinc uses power line for its communication. When controlling an RF-only device such as a Thermostat, be sure to have at least one Access Point or dual-band device installed. These convert RF signals to power line and vice versa. | | | |

Insteon Products Are Excellent! Jul 02, 2010 This 6 button keypad, along with 2 SwitchLinc dimmer switches has been going strong for about a year now. The build quality feels very good, the installation was very straight forwards (like installing an electronic light switch). The tactile feedback feels very good, and very professional in quality. I have tried using some X10 brand controls before, and they felt very rickety and poor in their build quality. The Smarthome brand, in contrast, feels just like it should. I have yet to be disappointed.
Some things to keep in mind:
* This product seems to be best suited for adding functionality to an existing switched light or outlet - the default setting for the ON/OFF button is to control a load connected to the KeypadLinc. I am not sure if the ON/OFF buttons are reconfigurable for connection to any Insteon device
Why I took off 1 star:
* There may be something that I am missing... but the feedback on the KeypadLinc can go out of since with the SwitchLinc dimmer. For example, you walk over and hit "Scene A" on the keypadlinc, which is linked to a SwitchLinc. The "Scene A" button lights up, and the light (or appliance) driven by the SwitchLinc turns on. Next you go over to the SwitchLinc and turn the light (or appliance off). Now, if you go back to the KeypadLinc, the "Scene A" button stays lit. So, in other words, any modification made to the state of the light using the SwitchLinc do not seem to get communicated back to the KeypadLinc. This is a minor issue, and not that big a deal to me. Also, there may be a way of acquiring feedback from SwitchLinc dimmers that I just don't know about yet.
