Description is deficient Jul 17, 2010 This bulb works fine with two others as night lights in a passage next to the kitchen. Kitchen lighting is good when I need more light.
I didn't give this five stars because the description doesn't warn buyers that it will interfere with radios, televisions, remote controls, telephones etc. I first put one in a small lamp in my guest room to use as a night light. There was a little radio-controlled [so-called atomic] clock on the same night table. The bulb made the clock go nuts. Once I moved the bulb to its present location, the clock behaved normally and set itself to the right time. The warning about interference is in small print on the little box the bulbs come in. The shipper was very friendly when I had a problem (The first set they sent was yellow - mispackaged in boxes labeled white by Westinghouse. They immediately sent me a white set. That set actually arrived earlier than the promised time for the original set.) I suspect they would give a refund without restocking fee if the buyer found the interference to be a problem.
It is what it is May 08, 2010 If you need a night light to dimly illuminate an otherwise pitch dark space, this tiny bulb will do it, with next to no discernible heat and no noticeable effect on your power bill. At less than $7 for a bulb which should last for over 5 years of continuous use, it's an ok deal.
But it is not suitable for anything else. It's not enough light to read by; it's barely enough light to type by. The light is a grayish purple. I use it to give enough light to a windowless hallway to find my way out when the other lights are off, and it does that job well enough.
If you need enough light to tell floor from wall, and if you want a bulb that isn't affected by vibration, doesn't produce heat, and will work for several years nonstop, then this bulb may do what you need. Anything else, it's hopeless. To put this in perspective, with my head by the bulb and my bared foot just over 6 feet away, I can see that it's a foot but I can't quite tell toe from toenail. To get five stars, it would need to put out about double the amount of light; then it could serve as a desk lamp bulb.
Addendum: taking away a star because I went to consider buying another, and the price has been raised to almost $11. That's no longer a good deal. Hint to manufacturers and resellers: the price of tech items goes down over time, not up. If it goes up, you're doing it wrong and deserve to lose sales.
NOT A S11 TYPE Bulb Apr 13, 2010 I could not say if the bulb worked or how it worked because it would not fit into my S11 socket.. huge disappointment. sucks that they are still advertising it as S11 after i contacted them and told them it wasn't.

Perfect replacement for 7-watt bulb of similar shape for stair lights Mar 03, 2010 This bulb was a perfect replacement for a 7-watt incandescent bulb of similar shape and size. I have 5 recessed stair lights that use a medium-size base like this one and I was using 7-watt traditional bulbs in them. Those were burning out after a couple of months at $2.49 a pop. I expect these new LED bulbs to last much much longer.
Please, consider that the light you get for 1 watt is NOT going to be very much, and this is really more of a night light than anything. We like the dim light on the stairs and these are PERFECT for that application. HIGHLY recommended in that case!!

5 stars for the bulb, please. Dec 03, 2009 Its 1 watt, ..............1 watt...........1 watt should be dim, its not for lighting up an area. Please dont give it 1 star ratings for being what it is.
